Bo Nix could be getting valuable backup for the 2025 season: a veteran wideout still in his prime with Super Bowl-winning experience, Cooper Kupp. The Los Angeles Rams told Kupp he'd be traded this offseason.
Pro Football Focus's Mason Cameron predicts the WR, who has made $93 million over his career but is expected to have the Rams cover most of his deal in any trade, could help Nix grow in his NFL career.
"Denver’s primary directive this offseason will be to find more weapons for their young passer, Bo Nix, after his promising rookie campaign. Kupp would certainly provide Nix with the safety blanket and sure-hands this Broncos offense needs to take the next steps. Broncos HC Sean Payton is notorious for his intricate system and play-calling, which would bode well for a veteran like Kupp – as opposed to adding a young receiver in the draft – given his high IQ," Cameron wrote.
Kupp doesn't want to leave L.A. He made that clear in his statement.
“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA,” Kupp tweeted.
Kupp gave the PR-friendly statement that he is excited for what's next, though.
"2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come. Love you guys," Kupp said.
"But coming for it all."
There's no reason to think Kupp wouldn't be an asset to a Broncos team that could use steady hands as Nix experiences growing pains. Kupp is an elite route-runner who'd make the game easier for Nix. The QB could use winning teammates after getting his first taste of NFL playoff action this past January.
It'd be a match made in heaven with Nix since he also left a place he didn't want to leave (Auburn) to thrive elsewhere (Oregon, Denver).
