Things did not go according to plan for the Auburn baseball team at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama. The Tigers fell to the Texas A&M Aggies in a 3-2 game, where Auburn struggled mightily on offense and had a hard time with Aggie pitcher Justin Lamkin.

Still, Head Coach Butch Thompson and his team are prepared to put the loss behind them as they look forward to the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are expecting to host a regional, and if it happens, it would be the third time in the last four seasons.

Host sites for the NCAA Regionals will be announced on Sunday night, and then the seeding will be announced on Monday morning. Here's what Thompson and his team had to say heading into the weekend.

Thompson on what he'll tell his team ahead of the tourney, per Auburn Undercover:

"I think every team that you look at that's been to Omaha recently or punched the big ticket, I think there's a level of confidence with their program, their fan base, their university, that once you're able to do those things, it happens. I'll tell them three of the last four regionals we haven't lost a game in. I'll try to take everything that's been negative and let them go research for themselves, which they won't.

"So I'll just tell them all the good stuff that our program has done and try to build them up here over the next few days to get them ready, and then I'll ask our fans to absolutely be there for us in full force and help us push it across the finish line together."

Senior pitcher Carson Myers on the Texas A&M loss, per Auburn Rivals:

“We had a tough loss today but it's only going to put a chip on our shoulder going into this weekend. And it's just going to make us even better,” said Myers.
