On January 1, 2024, 4-star wide receiver Denairius Gray announced his commitment to the Auburn football program, and he has remained firm in that decision for over a year and a half. Over the weekend, he finally took his official visit to the Plains.
Gray spent time meeting with head coach Hugh Freeze and his future position coach, wide receivers coach Marcus Davis. His bond with Davis is a big factor in his decision to remain committed to the Tigers.
"Real great coach, definitely the reason I committed here," Gray said, per Auburn Rivals. "Got a great relationship and I'm just continuing to build it with him, Coach Heath (Dedeaux) and Coach [Maurice Harris]. The main thing is my relationship with the coaches, for sure. That's the main thing."
Still, as the No. 44 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2026 and the No. 41 prospect out of his home state of Florida, other schools are trying to turn Gray's head and change his mind ahead of signing day. He has nearly 40 offers from programs around the country, and by the end of the month, he will have officially visited Auburn, Kentucky, Washington, Ole Miss and NC State.
"I feel good about my commitment, I'm really just sitting down with my family, taking my visits, and making sure I make the best decision possible," Gray said.
With a commitment to Auburn football already announced, the wide receiver has not decided if there will be a day for a final decision, but he plans to return to the Plains for a game day in Jordan-Hare Stadium this fall.
