It has been an injury-plagued offseason for the Saints, and Saturday's preseason game against the Rams couldn’t have been any worse for them. Laying a giant goose egg on the scoreboard, there was just nothing that this Saints offense could do versus the Rams defense. Saints rookie offensive guard Jeremiah Wright had a good week last week versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Rams made him look silly out there.
The Rams' defense set the tone all afternoon, holding New Orleans to just 293 total yards while forcing three turnovers and never allowing a single point. The signature play came in the third quarter, when Rams safety Alex Cook picked off Spencer Rattler and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown, turning a Saints mistake into six points on the other end of the field. That interception return, combined with an earlier Zach Wilson pick and a lost fumble by Ty Chandler near the goal line, gave Los Angeles all they needed to complete the shutout.
It was that kind of complete performance that buried Wright and the rest of the Saints' offensive line all day.

PFF gave their grades on the Saints-Rams game. Wright wound up with the third-lowest rating for the entire offense. I am shocked he wasn't the lowest after his personal foul, after he continued to block a player on the Rams well after the whistle had blown.
Some people like that Wright has some fight in him. But letting it kill drives can be the reason why he doesn’t see the field. Head coach Kellen Moore chalked his day up to being a lack of discipline.
“Just a lack of discipline, lack of detail. A lot of them are under our control. Twelve penalties in a football game, you’re not going to win. We talked a lot about that and it was obviously a step back from the progress that we feel like we’ve made," Moore said to reporters postgame.
Which is exactly what that preseason game was. Wright looked lost on a lot of blocks and sometimes just missed people entirely. The only thing to do from there is to take it on the chin and move on to the next game.
With the injuries that are piling up on the Saints, they may need Wright to step up and be a starting guard sooner rather than later.
