If it weren't for a massive upset in Gainesville, Saturday would have been a boring day in SEC football. But, as we all know, boring and the SEC aren't two phrases that belong together.
Billy Napier's Gators got off the mat with a huge win over then-No. 9 Texas, while Alabama outlasted and then out-punished Vanderbilt in a revenge game.
Despite many teams having bye weeks, there were some changes in the pecking order of the SEC power rankings. However, there is a clear top two at the top. Heading into Week 7, here are our rankings.
1. Texas A&M (5-0, 2-0 SEC)
The Aggies' defense is legit, holding Mississippi State to 219 total yards one week after keeping Auburn to 177 total yards. The points allowed in those two games? 19.
Looking at A&M's schedule, it's not hard to see Mike Elko's team ending up in the College Football Playoff. A visit from Florida happens this week.
2. Alabama (4-1, 2-0)
Although the loss to Florida State looks worse after the Seminoles' being beaten badly by Miami, the Crimson Tide are still rolling into their matchup at Missouri on Saturday. Ty Simpson continues to be a star, while it seemed personal for Alabama to defeat Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt.
3. Ole Miss (5-0, 3-0)
After a visit from Washington State, things get real for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels as they go on the road to Georgia and Oklahoma in back-to-back weeks. Only then will we know what Ole Miss is made out of.
4. Georgia (4-1, 2-1)
Good win against Kentucky? Sure, but the Bulldogs look less and less like their former selves. Rebounding from the loss to Alabama was important; now the Dawgs face a road game in Jordan-Hare Stadium and then host Ole Miss.
5. Missouri (5-0, 1-0)
Arguably the biggest regular-season game for Mizzou since they joined the SEC, the Tigers host Alabama in a prove-it-or-shut-up matchup. The Tigers' fan base definitely got the short end of the stick with an 11 am kickoff.
6. Oklahoma (5-0, 1-0)
After a bye week, the Sooners took care of Kent State. Next up is the Red River Rivalry against a struggling Texas squad. How Michael Hawkins Jr. performs against the Longhorns, with John Mateer still out, will make the difference.
7. Tennessee (4-1, 1-1)
What do we really know about the Vols? Sure, the offense led by Joey Aguilar is dynamic, but Josh Huepel's team has yet to beat someone of importance. The matchup at Alabama in two weeks is looming large.
8. Vanderbilt (5-1, 1-1)
Unless you are Cam Newton or maybe Johnny Manziel, it's unwise to practice taking snaps from the victory formation before a game in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Diego Pavia learned this lesson.
9. LSU (4-1, 1-1)
Brian Kelly continues to argue that Garrett Nussmeier is not suffering a core injury despite all evidence. The quarterback had a bye week to heal up before the Bayou Bengals host South Carolina this Saturday.
10. Texas (3-2, 0-1)
There are several problems with the Longhorns, notably the offensive line, but Arch Manning is also one of them. His performance in the loss to Florida showed both the good and the bad of the young quarterback.
11. Mississippi State (4-2, 0-2)
Reality hit the Bulldogs once they got to SEC play. After a bye week, they travel to The Swamp.
12. Florida (2-3, 1-1)
Much to the chagrin of many Gators' fans, Billy Napier pulled out yet another massive win, defeating No. 9 Texas and keeping his job alive for one more week. The schedule doesn't get any easier going forward.
13. South Carolina (3-2, 1-2)
Is there anyone who actually believes the Gamecocks can win an important game?
14. Auburn (3-2, 0-2)
Much like Napier and the Gators, Hugh Freeze and the Tigers face an almost must-win this Saturday at home against Georgia. It's a night game in Jordan-Hare, and as everyone knows, that is when it gets insane. Auburn better have a better game plan than in the previous two losses if the Tigers want to pull off the upset.
15. Kentucky (2-3, 0-3)
Good news? True freshman Cutter Boley had some shining moments in the loss to Georgia. The bad news? Mark Stoops has no more shine on the program.
16. Arkansas (2-3, 0-1)
Are they really going to give Bobby Petrino another chance?
