This weekend turned out to be Separation Saturday as contenders like Alabama and Georgia showed their merit, while pretenders like Ole Miss and Tennessee faltered when the lights got bright.

It was also another rough weekend for coaches on the hot seat, including Auburn's Hugh Freeze, whose Tigers dropped to 0-4 in SEC play for the third straight year, and Florida's Billy Napier, who needed a miracle interception to beat Mississippi State in the Swamp.

We are more than halfway through October, and conference teams are in the midst of the gauntlet that is an SEC schedule. Here is how our power rankings shake out following Week 8.
