Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop was running mad when he was stomping all over Auburn during a 24-14 Volunteers victory on Rocky Top. Bishop finished with 220 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Specifically, Bishop was angry at Tigers head coach Alex Golesh.

Golesh, according to Bishop, was the reason the Knoxville native wasn't on a scholarship when the former was Josh Heupel's offensive coordinator in 2022.

“I can’t lie, this game was personal for me. (Alex) Golesh was a big reason I was a walk-on. I wanted them to feel what they were missing," Bishop said.

Golesh has not responded to Bishop's bold statement.

Instead, he assessed postgame what his defense was missing against Bishop.

"The missed tackles came from not getting a push up front and missing in the gap opportunities," Golesh said.

Best to focus on spotting the ball at this juncture if you're Golesh.

There's no bigger controversy that needs to be focused on than a 3-2 start on the Plains that looks like it will spiral over the next few weeks.

Auburn may be screwed against the rest of the running backs in October

Now that we know Auburn can't defend against the run, brace for impact for the rest of October.

Georgia is up next after the break in Athens. Nate Frazier could be the next executioner for the Tigers' defense, though Gunner Stockton can't be written off as a threat scrambling out of the pocket.

A date with LSU at home follows, with Dilin Jones running off to a hot start early. Jones may be the easiest challenge of the bunch. Jones is still a massive threat as far as DJ Durkin's is concerned.

Ole Miss has perhaps the biggest threat of the bunch in Kewan Lacy. While Lacy has had injuries slow his season down, why wouldn't Halloween be his great awakening when the Rebels host Auburn in Oxford, Mississippi?

If you have a strong running back, it appears a season-high performance is highly probable against these Tigers.

Auburn is at an inflection point in October with the bye week here

What is this season going to be? There's still time to make something of it and even make a CFP run. No Auburn fan wants to hear that bulljunk right now, but it's true. Two losses against the Tigers' schedule is a CFP shoo-in.

With how futile the offense often looks, though, perhaps it's best not to have those expectations for Auburn in 2026. Especially when we know exactly how teams will game plan against the defense.

Over the bye week, there needs to be reflection and a change of direction.

The coaching staff is paid the big bucks to figure out what that looks like.
