Auburn Tigers basketball coach Bruce Pearl would call the Hogs for Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders because of her unconditional support of Israel. Her father, Mike Huckabee, is the U.S. Ambassador to Israel.
Pearl, the man who built the Neville Arena, the man who brought a following to hoops on the Plains, the winningest coach in program history, Mr. Auburn himself...would call the Hogs because of another SEC state's governor's political opinion.
"It is American families, like the Huckabee's and the Trumps that give me
hope that this world will be a better place for my children! Mike, Janet and Sarah are such great people, I think they could even get this Auburn coach to call out some Hogs!" Pearl exclaimed on Twitter.
After Ole Miss Rebels legend Eli Manning recently rolled the trees at Toomer's Corner, it feels like Auburn University has a PR problem right now.
The Auburn Tigers should be focused on AU's recent athletic success
Pearl's Tigers just made the Final Four for the second time in school history. Butch Thompson's Tigers made it to the Super Regional before losing to Coastal Carolina. Hugh Freeze's...
Well, we'll leave it at Pearl and Thompson.
But AU athletics isn't going through a down period in history. John Cohen is helping fuel success for Pearl and Thompson, who predated his arrival. While Freeze's football program is a question mark, that is not completely Cohen's responsibility. Or anything close to completely.
The school's PR should be better. Unquestionably.
Let's stop celebrating SEC schools from Mississippi and Arkansas.
