Auburn’s roster this past basketball season was filled with a ton of newcomers, with Tahaad Pettiford being the only key piece left from the 2024-25 team that won the SEC regular season title and made the Final Four.
Following a rocky season that ended with an NIT title in Steven Pearl’s first season in charge of the Tigers, many expect another massive turnover of the roster, with key players leaving and others coming in as Auburn tries to build back to being a title contender.
The transfer portal opened at midnight ET on Tuesday, and so far, the Tigers have already seen freshman forward Filip Jovic enter, hoping to find greener pastures somewhere else.
The good news is that Kevin Overton, who came on late for Pearl’s squad this past season, announced that he will be back next year, giving Auburn a bona fide starter to build around.
We will keep track of who’s departing and arriving via the transfer portal, while also looking at those players that might stay for next season in an Auburn uniform.
Transfer Portal (Departures)
Filip Jovic (F) - The 21-year-old entered the transfer portal on April 7 after just one season on the Plains. He was a massive part in helping Auburn win the NIT title, averaging 13.8 points in the final four games, including 18 points in the win over Nevada.

Out of Eligibility
Keyshawn Hall - In his one season at Auburn, Hall proved to be both a team leader and a lethal scorer, leading the Tigers in points (19.3) and rebounds (7.1), earning All-SEC honors. He will likely be a second-round pick in this year’s NBA draft.
KeShawn Murphy - Murphy made the decision to sit out during Auburn’s NIT run for unknown reasons, but he still had a decent season, averaging 10.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He might hear his name called in the second round.
Returning
Kevin Overton - The guard proved to be the hero in the NIT title-game win over Tulsa, hitting a game-tying three-pointer with eight seconds left and helping the Tigers clinch it in overtime. He scored 16 or more points in eight of the last 11 games.
Could Return
Tahaad Pettiford - His sophomore season saw ups and downs, but his talent is still there if he returns for his third season, and he would be a guaranteed starter for the second straight season.
Elyjah Freeman - Pearl wants him back. Now, we will wait and see.
Kaden Magwood - An interesting case considering he barely played until the postseason.
Sebastian Williams-Adams - The forward could be a massive piece for Auburn’s hopes next season.
Blake Muschalek - He worked his way into playing 5.5 minutes per game with hustle and defensive effort.
