It’s a new era on the Plains as Alex Golesh takes over as the 33rd head football coach in program history. With a new coach and the introduction of the transfer portal, turnover is bound to happen during the offseason.
Golesh and his staff have been working to find and retain players who want to help Auburn turn the program around, while others have already declared their intention to enter the transfer portal.
With the portal opening on January 2nd, here is a tracker of who is leaving Auburn and who the Tigers are signing. This will continually be updated as players continue to come and go for the Tigers.
Intends to enter the transfer portal
1. Horatio Fields (WR) - Senior
Field suffered a season-ending injury early in the season, only playing four games after transferring from Wake Forest before the season.
2. A-Mon Lane-Ganus (S) - Freshman
The freshman saw limited playing time.
3. Perry Thompson (WR) - Sophomore
Part of the Freeze Four, Thompson never could get things going in his direction during his two years at Auburn. This past season, he caught 17 passes for 154 yards and no touchdowns. If he can become the player everyone expected him to be out of high school, someone will get a dangerous threat.
4. Caleb Wheatland (S) - Senior
The senior played in just three games after transferring from Maryland.
5. Antonio Coleman (DL) - Freshman
Suspended “indefinitely” in August by then-head coach Hugh Freeze, Coleman, who flipped his commitment several times, spent the entire season on the scout team.
6. Damari Alston (RB) - Senior
After starting the season as the starting running back, Alston suffered an injury in the opener against Baylor and could never get back on track before finally deciding to sit out the rest of the season to preserve a redshirt.
7. Malcolm Simmons (WR) - Sophomore
As Auburn's passing game struggled to find its rhythm throughout most of the season, Simmons' production was minimal. It was until the last two games that the Tigers found someone who could deliver him the ball when the sophomore went off, putting up 149 receiving yards against Mercer and 143 yards against Alabama, scoring a touchdown in each.
8. DeAndre Carter (OL) - Redshirt Freshman
9. Favour Edwin (OL) - Redshirt Freshman
10. Jay Crawford (CB) - Sophomore
A massive loss for Auburn's secondary as Crawford proved to be one of the most reliable cornerbacks for the Tigers during his two seasons on the Plains.
11. Cam'ron King (WR) - Freshman
12. Seth Wilfred (OL) - Sophomore
13. Hollis Davidson (TE) - Freshman
14. Malik Blocton (DL) - Sophomore
15. Jamonta Waller (LB) - Redshirt Freshman
16. Amaris Williams (DL) - Sophomore
17. Kayin Lee (CB) - Junior
18. Ashton Daniels (QB) - Senior
Expected to compete for the starting quarterback position, Daniels annnounced on December 21 his intent to enter the portal, stating, "I know I promised a return to this amazing place, but things didn’t work out how I thought they would" in an Instagram post.
19. Jackson Arnold (QB) - Junior
Brought in from Oklahoma to be the savior for Hugh Freeze and Auburn's offense, Arnold could never find his rhythm for a number of reasons, with the former Auburn head coach to blame as well.
20. Robert Woodyard, Jr (LB) - Junior
Woodyard came on this past season, recording 67 total tackles with seven tackles for a loss and two sacks.
21. Donovan Starr (CB) - Freshman
22. Xavier Chaplin (OT) - Redshirt Junior
Brought in to finally solve Auburn's problem at left tackle, Chaplin left more questions than answers during his one season on the Plains.
23. Kensley Lindor-Faustin (S) - Sophomore
24. Cam Coleman (WR) - Sophomore
A massive loss for Auburn, Coleman is a star wide receiver who can make any and every catch possible. With his NIL projected to be around $1.8 million, he's an expensive player, but some team will be more than happy to spend that amount on him.
25. Deuce Knight (QB) - Freshman
Another massive loss as Knight was expected to be the future for Auburn at the quarterback position. The former 5-star signee got the start against Mercer this past season and didn't disappoint, putting up six total touchdowns (four on the ground) in the victory.
26. Sam Turner (WR) - Freshman
A young but inexperienced wide receiver who was expecte to prouce in his second season on the Plains.
