Sometimes when you are arguing, you often lose your mind. You forget important details or even simple little facts.

That seems to be the case for former Alabama and current Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who, on Thursday, responded to criticism from Cam Newton in quite possibly the strangest way possible.

"I want to see anybody on the street come play QB," Tagovailoa said in response to Newton's criticism. "It's easier to be able to hold a clicker and talk about it."

Sure, that argument works when he's talking about someone who has never played football, or, for that matter, not played it at the level that it requires in the NFL. But, let's be clear here: Cam Newton is not one of those, and maybe Tagovailoa needs a brush-up on history.

If he doesn't remember, Newton was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft after having led Auburn to a national championship in a season in which he won the Heisman Trophy. We can start there.

In his rookie season, Newton threw for 4,051 yards and 21 touchdowns, on his way to winning Rookie of the Year. Four years later, he was named NFL MVP, leading the Carolina Panthers to a 15-1 regular-season record and NFC Championship.

You still there, Tagovailoa? Okay, good. In his illustrious career, Newton finished with 32,382 passing yards and 194 touchdowns, while also rushing for 5,628 yards and 75 scores.

That's not just any guy off the street with a clicker. That's a guy who had a much better career than Tagovailoa has had so far, and will ever likely have.
