Sometimes a coach departing for another job can leave wounded feelings, as is going on in Oxford, Miss., right now with Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss.

For Rob Higgins, the CEO of Athletics at USF, he wishes nothing but the best for Alex Golesh, who accepted the Auburn job on Sunday.

“Let me be the first to say we are truly excited for Alex, Alexis & their kids,” Higgins posted on Twitter/X. “We love Coach Golesh and are beyond grateful for what he has done for our program. Rest assured, we did everything within reason over the last few months to try and keep them here. We will be cheering them on always!”

During his three years in Tampa, the 41-year-old Golesh led the Bulls to a 23-15 record, including 9-3 this season with an early win over Florida in the Swamp. The Bulls won both bowl games under Golesh's guidance, including last season's Hawaii Bowl.

Golesh will be formally introduced on Monday in the Anderson-Thorne Tigers Den within the Harbert Family Recruiting Center at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
