Auburn Head Coach Hugh Freeze

Opening statement:

“Excited to get win No. 2 and 16-straight sell-outs at Jordan-Hare. Our fans are incredible, and I’m glad our kids played hard for them tonight. I’m sure we could find some things to complain about, probably offensively and special teams-wise. I thought defensively, we were physical... We held them to negative rushing yards, which is the first time since 2001 that an Auburn team has done that. Fourteen tackles for losses, six sacks, just thought our defense really played physical and set the tone for the night. It was  good to give our fans that kind of game here at home. We got seven opportunities here, and they have to matter. We have to defend this place, and there’s no excuse for us not to play with great passion, particularly here. I’m proud to get the first win and be 1-0 in Jordan-Hare.”

Jackson Arnold, QB

On patience in passing game

"It took a lot, and I think the draw from last game was seeing how patient we had to be in the run game, and not being able to throw the ball a ton kind of helped us out this week. We know to take the little wins into five and six-yard hits and keep on moving chains. I thought we did a good job of that tonight. Truth be told, you can ask Coach Freeze, you could have thrown 10 hitches more out there tonight... little things like that. Keep the chains moving and the momentum going and keep the offense moving."

On Eric Singelton Jr.

"He played a great game tonight. He has a knack for getting open and finding space. He did a great job tonight, and to be quite honest, with the first touchdown, he could not be more open. Shoutout to Coach Freeze on that one, but for us, his two touchdowns were great plays. I thought he did a great job being open, finding the space and going out and making plays."

Eric Singleton Jr., WR

On the amount of offensive weapons Auburn has

“We knew we had the weapons. Last week, we just weren’t getting the right coverage to show it. This week, we put on a little show."

Malik Blocton, DL

On his fumble recovery

“I was really hoping I got the sack, but when I saw the ball come out of his hand, I was like 'Oh, I really got to go get it now.' I was kind of skeptical. I didn't know if they were going to call it an incomplete pass or a fumble. That’s why my celebration was kind of delayed. I’m just happy they gave it to me for real."

On Auburn's best defensive effort in 40 years

"I mean, it really made me feel a lot better because this isn't our best. We had so many penalties and we didn't play our cleanest game. To hear that was the best game in 40 years and it wasn't our best, it just excites me for the future."
