Former Georgia Tech commit Sam Turner talks about his decision to flip to Auburn football

It's the bye week for Auburn football, and the team is hoping to regroup and rest for a week before working to get their first conference win on the road in Missouri. Still, there was exciting news for Tiger fans on Thursday evening when former Georgia Tech commit Sam Turner announced he was flipping his commitment to Auburn.

Turner committed to the Yellow Jackets during the summer, but Auburn wide receivers coach Marcus Davis and the rest of the Tigers' coaching staff never quit in their recruitment of the Decatur, Georgia, native. After taking a trip to the Plains in late July for the Tigers' biggest recruiting event of the year, Big Cat Weekend, he was ready to make the decision to flip.

“Just felt like home,” Turner told On3. “When Coach Davis came today and laid everything out for me it was hard to say no. They could’ve chose anybody in America. I prolonged this process since June. I respect they waited and kept recruiting me and it showed a lot.”

A 3-star prospect, Turner is ranked as the #70 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2025 and is the #52 recruit out of the state of Georgia. He joins an Auburn class that is currently ranked #4 overall and believes that big things are on the way for the Tigers.

"It's the people, the culture and atmosphere," Turner said, per Auburn Undercover. "The culture here is just different. You can sense it as soon as you walk in from the coaching staff, the players, it's different."

Turner is the 27th commit and second wide receiver to join the Tigers' recruiting class of 2025 alongside 4-star receiver Derick Smith from Selma, Alabama.
