Auburn Recruiting: Big Boom Weekend “a Success,” According to Tigers Commit
One of the biggest Auburn recruiting weekends in school history wraps up Sunday and according to at least one future Tiger the weekend was “a success.”
In what many have referred to as “Big Boom Weekend,” the Auburn football coaching staff and players hosted a huge number of highly touted high school recruits for official visits while several others were in town for unofficial visits. There were campus tours, meetings with coaches and an incredible basketball game at Auburn Arena.

Overall, it’s hard to say what went through each prospects mind as they took everything in, but according to Auburn commit Elijah Sullivan, the weekend should be considered a success.
“I met a lot of recruits they’re trying to bring in (and) had a nice time down here,” Sullivan told James Crepea of the Montgomery Advertiser. “It was really good. A lot of players, I talked to them they said they had a great time. This is a big weekend that we had all the recruits who hasn’t really committed nowhere yet. It was a big weekend. I think it was a success.”
Sullivan is an underrated three-star linebacker prospect that is expected to play inside linebacker for new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. He has less than ideal size for the position at the moment at 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, but has sold speed in the 4.5-second range in the 40-yard dash and could blossom into a very good college player.
The Tucker, Georgia native may have certainly been on to something with his comments. Shortly after they were published, the Tigers got terrific news that four-star safety Tim Irvin flipped his commitment from Texas to Auburn.
And then, there were reports that Auburn had made a great impression on several of the seven uncommitted five-star prospects that made it on campus this weekend – like Apopka, Florida native Martez Ivey – the nation’s top offensive line prospect. According to another Auburn commit, four-star lineman Marquel Harrell, the Tigers have a great shot at Ivey.

“I think we land Martez,” Harrell told Justin Hokanson of AuburnUndercover.com. “We had a thing going on. I’d say ‘left side’, he would say ‘strong side’, like Remember the Titans. We had that connection. He’s a really cool guy. I’m not down on Florida, but you come to Auburn and we’ll win a national championship, a lot of them. You go to Florida, you’ll win a couple of games and make a couple of bowl games, but other than, you won’t do nothing else.”
In addition to Ivey, there are rumblings that defensive end Byron Cowart – rated No. 1 overall in the ESPN300 – sees Auburn as his leader now.
"A source that spoke with 5-star Byron Cowart this weekend said Cowart told him if everything goes according to plan, he was coming to Auburn and bringing 5-star CeCe Jefferson and 4-star Jeffery Holland with him. Take it for what it’s worth."
If all of that happens, which is still very optimistic, watch out. The Tigers moved into the top ten of the national recruiting rankings with the news of Irvin’s commitment, but adding three five-star prospects could put the 2015 Auburn recruiting class squarely in the top ten.
At that point, “success” would be a major understatement.
