Like Dinson, the Tigers have made a late push for Florida native and four-star cornerback Carlton Davis, who is currently committed to Ohio State. Auburn got in the mix late and Davis agreed to make an official visit last weekend. By some accounts, Miami is expected to still be a factor as well.
Davis has great size for a corner, and may even project as a safety down the line. He’s physical at the line of scrimmage but also fast enough to cover receivers, especially as a safety. However, some analysts say Davis is currently Auburn’s “top corner target,” which leads me to believe he is being recruited to play corner.
He’s got a ton of upside, and would be in the mix to contribute on special teams and possibly in the secondary as a true freshman for new defensive coordinator Will Mushcamp and defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson, who are Davis’ primary recruiters.
Auburn has made a big move for Davis, and they’ve got a legitimate chance to flip him.
