Worst Case Scenario
It’s simple really.
Despite there being an entirely possible Dream Team best-case scenario for the 2015 Auburn recruiting class, it’s a looooooooong shot. In fact, it’s just as (un)likely none of the players included sign with the Tigers.
Things could shake out like this:
Byron Cowart, Martez Ivey and Jeffrey Holland sign with Florida. CeCe Jefferson lands at Ole Miss and Terry Beckner Jr. pledges to either Missouri, Ohio State or Florida State.
Terry Godwin and Torrance Gibson stick with the Bulldogs and Buckeyes, and Prince Tega doesn’t sign anywhere on February 4 (which is probable, actually), continues to visit campuses across the nation, and falls in love with South Carolina, LSU or some other SEC school.
In that case, Malzahn, Muschamp and company would find themselves in a mad scramble to pick up three-star recruits that obviously weren’t their first choice. Egos may have been bruised as lower ranked players watched the Tigers court a bunch of five-stars, which will make it more difficult to persuade even them to sign with Auburn.
Even worse, it’s possible one of the 21 players committed to the 2015 Auburn recruiting class has a last-minute change of heart and bolts.
If the worst-case scenario plays out that way, we might only see three or four new names on the roster in addition to the players already committed.
We’ve got less than 48 hours to play out all the scenarios, and things are likely to shake out somewhere in between best and worst-case. But there’s still so many unknowns, anything is still possible.
