Projections: Who Will Sign With the Auburn Recruiting Class?
Since we made our last projections, a lot of new information has come to light. One of the players we expected to sign with the Tigers – Jeremiah Dinson – verbally committed last week. One – Chidi Valentine-Okeke – committed elsewhere (LSU), and another – Arden Key – cancelled a scheduled official visit and appears destined to land in Baton Rouge (or maybe at South Carolina).

Auburn is obviously still alive for the eleven players listed here, but filling the seven remaining spots with this star-studded bunch would be a Dream Team scenario that simply isn’t realistic.
Instead, Gus Malzahn and company are likely to pick up a few of these players, but add some other lower-profile prospects to bring the final number of signees to 28 in the 2015 Auburn recruiting class.
Other candidates include a couple of wide receivers, JUCO wideout Dominique Reed and Georgia commit Darius Slayton, as well as a couple of Florida targets in offensive lineman Mike Horton and three-star athlete/defensive back Javarius Davis.
So who will fax their letters of intent to Auburn on National Signing Day? Here’s how I see the final seven signings shaking out:
- Byron Cowart
- Terry Godwin
- Prince Tega Wanogho, Jr. (in late February)
- Jeffrey Holland
- Ryan Davis
- Carlton Davis
- Javarius Davis
By many standards, it’s a relatively conservative estimate, even with the prediction that the Auburn coaching staff can flip Godwin at the last minute.
While the Tigers have an opportunity to make a huge splash if they can reel in a few five-star prospects, and signing big names like Martez Ivey, CeCe Jefferson and Torrance Gibson is possible, the odds just aren’t there to make bolder predictions.
But, it wouldn’t be a shock to find out I’m wrong. In fact, I hope I am.
We may now be counting down in hours, but a lot can change in a short time – especially on National Signing Day.
UPDATE: With D’Anfernee McGriff de-committing and news that Auburn can now sign 29 total players in this year’s class, I’ll add Kendrick Norton and Dominique Reed.
UPDATE 2: Prince Tega has committed to Auburn and will sign with the Tigers February 4.
