Two weeks ago when we made our first set of odds and projections for National Signing Day, Carlton Davis was not one of the 12 high school prospects we discussed. Now, he’s got some of the highest odds of anyone to join the Auburn recruiting class.
A former Ohio State commit, Davis is a big, strong cornerback that runs well and plays physical. In other words, he’s exactly the type of player new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is looking for.
A Miami native, Davis recorded 50 tackles and had six interceptions as a senior at Borland High School and earned first team all-state honors. He’s right in defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson backyard, and T-Rob has a way with recruiting in South Florida.
Of course, new Florida linebackers coach Randy Shannon has a great track record recruiting in that area, and the Gators – as well as the hometown Miami Hurricanes – are still in the mix.
That said, when Davis de-committed from the Buckeyes last week, all signs pointed toward the Plains.
