The newest member of the 2015 Auburn recruiting class has the most interesting back story.

Prince Tega Wanogho, Jr. arrived in the United Stated from Nigeria in the summer of 2014 as a student at Edgewood Academy in Elmore, Alabama with intentions of playing basketball. He classified for the class of 2016, and played American football for the first time in August.

With raw athleticism – including 4.6-second speed in the 40-yard dash – and a 6-foot-8, 250-pound frame, Prince Tega quickly found himself on the radars of some of college football’s elite coaches. He reclassified to the class of 2015 in early January, took a few official visits to SEC schools LSU, Tennessee and Auburn, and quickly made his decision as to a college destination.

According to multiple reports Tuesday, Edgewood football coach Bobby Carr announced that Prince Tega had made a commitment to the Tigers and would sign on the morning of National Signing Day.

A better fit on the defensive side of the football because of a shorter overall learning curve, Prince Tega also played some tight end in high school. He’s still got do a couple of things to become fully eligible and must also rehab a major leg injury he suffered in a January basketball game, but there may not be a player in the country with a bigger upside than Prince Tega Wanogho, Jr.
