Davis is one of my favorite players in the Auburn football recruiting class. He’s a former high school quarterback and therefore has a high football IQ. But, more importantly for his future as a wide receiver, the 5-foot-9, 167-pound Davis has explosive playmaking ability with the ball in his hands.
Davis is ranked 188th overall by the 247Sports Composite, is the nation’s 24th rated wide receiver. His measurables may not jump out on paper or the computer screen, but some players are just ballers and Davis falls into that category.
The St. Petersburg, Florida native has the ability to turn on a dime and make defenders look silly in the open field. He fits the mold of Auburn senior wideout Quan Bray and upcoming junior Marcus Davis as a slot receiver and wildcat quarterback, and as a potential return man.
Davis threw for 6,828 yards in his career at Lakewood Senior High School, and in the 2014 season alone ran for 856 yards and eight touchdowns on only 57 attempts – a staggering 15 yards per carry.
