The rich get richer. The Auburn Tigers made a big move on National Signing Day 2015, including the addition of Javarius Davis.

More from Auburn Football Recruiting

In the early afternoon February 4, Davis committed to join the Auburn football recruiting class. A 5-foot-9 athlete listed as a running back by 247Sports, the Jacksonville native is expected to play cornerback at Auburn.

He became the 26th member of the class Wednesday (and the third with the last name Davis).

Corner is a position of great need for the Tigers entering the 2015 season because the squad finished 13th in the SEC in pass defense last year and also lost two seniors to graduation. Therefore, it is very possible Davis could see playing time next year.

Ranked 390th overall in the 247Sports Composite and 33rd among running backs, Davis has great speed in the 4.5-second range in the 40-yard dash. He’s not very big at 5-foot-9 and 173 pounds, but is muscular and will get stronger once he gets on campus and enters the strength and conditioning program.

Because of Davis’ history as a running back, he may be an option as a kick or punt returner as well.
