Committed to Auburn since April 2014, Jordan Colbert has been one of the most vocal recruiters in this year’s class.
He’s known to have unofficially visited campus seven times outside of his official visit on “Big Boom Weekend” January 16, when he had an opportunity to spend quality time with several uncommitted Tigers’ targets. Colbert was also reportedly recruiting for the Tigers at the Under Armour All-American Game in early January.

Aside from his recruiting skills, Colbert is a solid safety prospect ranked in the top ten in the nation at the position in the 247Sports Composite. The Georgia native is a very good run defender and hits like a linebacker. In fact, he played linebacker at Griffin High School and recorded 52 tackles, five tackles for a loss, six pass breakups and two interceptions as a senior.
He doesn’t have great speed for a defensive back, but is athletic enough to handle coverage assignments. He’s a versatile player with a high football IQ and puts himself in a good position to make plays.
“We did a myriad of things with him,” Colbert’s high school coach Jarrett Laws said recently. “Jordan is one of those generational kids that his skill set allows you to literally do anything from stick his hand in the dirt, to play him over the top and everything in between. He allows you to be as creative as you’d like to be.”
According to his father, it’s that versatility that intrigues the new defensive coaching staff the most.
