One of at least four offensive linemen expected to join the 2015 Auburn recruiting class, Gadsden, Alabama native Tyler Carr committed to the Tigers in July 2014, signed as an early enrollee in December 2014, and is on campus to participate in spring practice.

Enrolling early is a great chance for Carr to make an early impression on the coaching staff, who will decide whether or not to redshirt him for the 2015 season. He might not be ready for significant playing time, but it’s possible due to the early depth chart at guard.

Starting guard Chad Slade graduated following the 2014 season and part-time starter Patrick Miller declared for the NFL. Devonte Danzey, another part-time starter, returns as does 2013 Freshman All-American Alex Kozan, who missed 2014 with a back injury.

Scouting reports are split on Carr. At 6-foot-5 and 311 pounds, Carr has good size and strength – especially lower body strength – but lacks the ideal quickness and technique needed to make an immediate impact.
