“I think it’s real important because we’re getting a head start on everybody else,” Cox said in January. “By the time the other guys get here, we’ll be ahead and know the playbook pretty well.”
A quarterback at Apopka High School that accounted for more than 3,000 yards in his career including more than 1,000 passing and 1,000 rushing, Cox will be a fullback/tight end/H-back at Auburn – the role filled by players like Philip Lutzenkirchen, Jay Prosch, C.J. Uzomah and Brandon Fulse. He will compete for the starting job immediately.
Cox will block a lot and catch a few passes, maybe even line up as a quarterback in the Wildcat, but will most likely fly under the radar.
“In high school, I played all over the place. Here, I’ll be a H-back and fullback and they’ll be moving me around a little bit,” Cox said.
