The dust has just settled from Signing Day 2015, but football recruiting is always in season. Let’s take an early look at the five players committed to the 2016 Auburn recruiting class, as well as five of the Tigers top targets heading into the spring.

Auburn Commits

WR Nate Craig-Myers: A five-star prospect rated as the nation’s top wide receiver in the 2016 class in the 247Sports Composite, Nate Craig-Myers is the best player currently committed to the Tigers and one of the best players in the nation. The Tampa native committed in July 2014 and made a point to be on campus for a visit on “Big Boom Weekend” in January 2015.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Craig Myers has a big frame and he’s also got great quickness, leaping ability and very good hands. A top ten player nationally with scholarship offers coming in from all over the country, holding on to Craig-Myers is one of the top priorities for the Auburn coaching staff over the next 12 months.

ATH Stephen Davis, Jr.: A familiar name to Auburn football fans, Stephen Davis, Jr. is the son of former Tigers and NFL running back Stephen Davis. A four-star prospect ranked 11th among Athletes and 213th overall in the 247Sports composite, Davis projects as a safety in college.

Listed between 6-foot-3 and 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, he’s a big-bodied defensive back that could develop into a linebacker. A South Carolina native, Davis also has offers from the in-state Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers.

TE Landon Rice: When Gus Malzahn finds a tight end he likes, he tries to lock them up early in the process. Much like Jalen Harris in the 2015 class, Landon Rice has committed to the Tigers well before his high school senior season. Also like Harris, Rice measures in at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, which means he has great size already and could contribute immediately once on campus.

A three-star prospect ranked 451st overall and 13th among tight ends in the 247Sports Composite, the Calhoun, Georgia native also plays defensive end. Rice has recently picked up scholarship offers from Georgia and Alabama.

DL Quinnen Williams: The most recent commitment in the 2016 Auburn recruiting class, Quinnen Williams is an underrated defensive tackle from Birmingham. Largely off the radar until he committed to the Tigers January 31, Williams is currently a three-star player ranked among the nation’s top 500 players in the 247Sports Composite.

However, the site itself sees Williams as a top 200-calibur player and gives him four stars. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, Williams could play defensive end or develop into an interior defensive lineman in college.

RB Jalen Buie: A teammate of 2015 signee Jeffrey Holland at Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida, Jalen Buie is an electric all-purpose running back that has been committed to the Tigers for more than a year already.

Listed at 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, Buie is a three-star prospect currently ranked 517th nationally and 59 in the state in the 247Sports Composite. He’s a very intriguing player because of his top-end speed, and has a high ceiling.
