We preview and give predictions for the six SEC football games this weekend. These games could shape the landscape of the SEC football race.

Even though Auburn is off this weekend, there are a few SEC football games to get excited about this weekend that could have huge implications on the SEC race.

Ten SEC football teams will be in action this weekend, leaving four that will be on their bye week.

Only Mississippi State and LSU will play out-of-conference games this weekend, and there are two games that feature ranked teams with No. 1 Alabama at No. 9 Tennessee and No. 12 Ole Miss at No. 22 Arkansas.

This should be another great weekend of SEC football, so let’s see who we think will win.

Mississippi State at BYU – Friday – 9:15 p.m. CT – ESPN

The weekend gets started a little early for SEC football as Mississippi State will travel to face BYU on Friday night.

The Bulldogs are coming off a thrashing at home by the paws of the Tigers. They desperately need to bounce back with a huge win against a tough BYU team on the road to have a shot at a bowl game.

However, I don’t see anyway Mississippi State gets up for this game on the road. Don’t be fooled by BYU’s record, they are a good team – especially at home.

Prediction: Mississippi State – 24 BYU – 31

Vanderbilt at Georgia – 11 a.m. CT – SEC Network

I’m very disappointed in the way Vanderbilt has played this year. They had a chance to get back on track against Kentucky last weekend and failed.

I’m not sure where the Commodores go from here, but I don’t see it getting much better against the Bulldogs this weekend.

Georgia has not played great this season, but their schedule is very soft the rest of the way outside of games against Florida and Auburn.

I see this game as another opportunity for Georgia to improve with a first year coach and quarterback.

Prediction: Vanderbilt – 13 Georgia – 31

Alabama at Tennessee – 2:30 p.m. – CBS

The Volunteers luck ran out against Texas A&M. It looked like they were about to perform another miraculous comeback in the second half, but fell short in overtime.

You have to wonder what their emotions are like coming into this game at home against Alabama. You know they want this game more than anything.

Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide continues to chug along after an impressive win over Arkansas last weekend.

I want to tell you that Tennessee wins this game, but I just haven’t seen them put together a full game. They’ll need to do that and more to beat Alabama.

If Josh Dobbs can be effective as a runner and not turn the ball over, then the Volunteers have a very good chance of pulling off the upset at home.

Prediction: Alabama – 34 Tennessee – 27

Missouri at Florida – 3 p.m. CT – SEC Network

Missouri is another bottom-feeder team that has let me down lately. I thought they had a chance to pull out a couple of upsets, but they were embarrassed at home against LSU in their last game.

Meanwhile, Florida is essentially coming off a bye and should have their starting quarterback healthy.

I think the Gators unleash some furry in this game at home and take care of business.

Prediction: Missouri – 10 Florida – 38

Ole Miss at Arkansas – 6 p.m. CT – ESPN

After getting out to such a good start, the Razorbacks are on the verge of losing three of their last four games.

If they do lose to Ole Miss this weekend then all of their losses will have bene to teams inside the top 12. It hasn’t exactly been an easy stretch of games for Arkansas, and they’ll have to face a ranked Auburn team on the road the following weekend.

The Rebels are out for blood as they feel like they should be one of the best teams in the country. Chad Kelly is out to prove why he should be a first round draft pick.

As much as I want Arkansas to be ranked when Auburn plays them, I don’t see them winning this game at home. Chad Kelly is going to torch that defense.

Prediction: Ole Miss – 45 Arkansas – 34

Southern Miss at LSU – 6:30 p.m. CT – SEC Network

Much like Florida, I think LSU comes out and plays on fire this weekend at home.

Southern Miss is not a push over, but I don’t see them keeping up with LSU in this game in Baton Rouge. The Golden Eagles did upset Kentucky to start the season, but this isn’t Kentucky.

Coach O will have his team ready, and they’ll be trying to send a message to the rest of the SEC that LSU is back.

Prediction: Southern Miss – 13 LSU – 34

Enjoy your weekend!
