If you thought the Auburn football game last week was hot, you’re in for a real treat Saturday when No. 12 LSU comes to town.
Because it’s going to be even hotter. Kickoff last week against Alabama State was at 7:30 p.m. ET and game-time temperature was 87 degrees.
It’s supposed to be at least 90 (with a head index of 98) around kickoff Saturday.
It’s easy to say that both football teams are accustomed to that kind of heat, but that’s still tough for all players, even the fans.

Fly War Eagle’s Shea Brennamen is in Auburn for the game and confirms that it is indeed toasty:
Both teams have experienced near-identical conditions this season.
In Week 1, Auburn played Washington indoors at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. LSU played Miami indoors at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Both games were played under a controlled weather environment.
In Week 2, both teams played early evening games with kickoff in Auburn at 87 and in Baton Rouge it was 90 degrees.
In last season’s game, even though it was played a month later on Oct. 14, game-time temperature for the 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff was 90 degrees in Baton Rouge. The last time the two teams met in Auburn, on Sept. 24, 2016, the 6 p.m. ET kickoff temperature also was 90.
The Auburn football team should be well rested for this game. In the 63-9 win last week against Alabama State, 94 Tigers saw game action. Auburn led 42-2 at halftime and coaches pulled QB Jarrett Stidham before the end of the first half.
LSU had an easy time with Southeastern Louisiana, just not as easy. The Tigers won 31-0 and led 24-0 at halftime. They got 54 players into the game and five players who missed the game last week will return this week, LSU coach Ed Orgeron said.
LSU has won 7 of the last 10 games against Auburn and 12 of the last 20. Auburn has won the last two meetings at home and is 2-3 against LSU under Gus Malzahn.
