Can’t keep up with all the preseason watchlists that Auburn football players and coaches appear on? I’m here to help.

This past week Auburn football has appeared all over various preseason watchlists for awards. I’m convinced that these watchlists are really only announced to hype up the public for football season. Kickoff is still a month away and fall camp hasn’t started yet so there really is no better time for these lists to roll out. I can’t help but get hyped to see all of the Auburn players named in these lists. Even Gus Malzahn is on a watchlist for Coach of the Year and no, it’s not for which coach has the hottest seat.

At the conclusion of SEC Media Days eight Tigers were picked to finish All-SEC:

Trench Warfare: Auburns Representatives for SEC Media Days

First Team:

  • OL Prince Tega Wanogho
  • DT Derrick Brown

Second Team:

  • LB Nick Coe
  • DE Marlon Davidson
  • K Anders Carlson

Third Team:

  • DB Daniel Thomas
  • P Arryn Siposs
  • RB Jatarvious Whitlow

Projected First Team All-SEC Tigers OL Prince Tega Wanogho and DT Derrick Brown have also been named to the Outland Trophy Watchlist (nation’s best interior lineman).

The awards don’t stop there for Brown, he as well as LB Nick Coe have been named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watchlist (best defensive player in college football).

Derrick Brown makes impacts on and off the field. In addition to receiving athletic recognition he has also been named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watchlist (college football’s top community servant).

DB Noah Igbinoghene has been named to the Hurnung Award Watchlist (college football’s most versatile player). Not only does Igbinoghene play both the roles of cornerback and kick returner for the Tigers, but he also runs track and field. He finished last season with 50 tackles, 11 pass break-ups, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble. He averaged 28.27 yards per return and rushed for a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Arkansas.

Projected Third Team All-SEC P Arryn Siposs has been named to the Ray Guy Award Watchlist (nation’s best punter). Malzahn said that the Australian punter didn’t fully understand the rules of American football until halfway through the season but Siposs had an impressive 56 punts for 2,476 total yards. His average is 44.2 yards and his career long is 60 yards. Whoa.

Center Kaleb Kim has been named to the Rimington Trophy Watchlist (nation’s most outstanding center) Kim started in eight games last season and is one of five starters returning to the offensive line for the Tigers. Kim struggled to maintain the starting job last season having to compete against Nick Brahms but eventually regained the role against Texas A&M.

Yes, the same coach who is the subject of everyone’s hot seat talk is on the Dodd Trophy Watchlist (Coach of the Year). GUS MALZAHN IS THE PILOT OF THIS PLANE AND I AM ROOTING FOR HIM TO SAFELY LAND US ON THE HUDSON.

Meet the New Gus, Same as the Old Gus?
