Team WarTampa hit the Auburn family with more big news this afternoon when they announced on Twitter that former Auburn basketball great Malik Dunbar will be joining the TBT team in 2021.

Dunbar, who was one of many key players on Auburn’s beloved 2019 Final Four Team, hit the court for the Tigers in 73 games over his two seasons in orange and blue. He racked up career totals of 162 field goals and 69 three-pointers.

Needless to say, Auburn basketball fans were pumped to have Malik Dunbar back on an Auburn team:

Malik Dunbar will be joining fellow former Auburn Tigers Desean Murray and Danjel Purifoy on the 2021 team. They will be applying to compete in The Basketball Tournament, known as TBT, this summer in Tampa.

It will be the Auburn team’s fourth year competing in the tournament, and fans are hoping to see the team go further than last year, where they fell in round one to a team of former Illinois Illini alumni.

Last year’s team featured only three former Tigers, but at this rate, it’s looking like the 2021 roster could be a 2019 team reunion. We have to admit that we don’t hate the sound of that.

With Chuma Okeke playing for the Orlando Magic and the Bryce Brown/Jared Harper duo teaming up on the Westchester Knicks, it’s not likely we’ll see those guys committing to the 2021 team. Personally, I’m holding out hope for big names like J’von McCormick and Samir Doughty.
