It’s been a rough season for Auburn basketball. There’s no other way to put it. First, there was the self-imposed post-season ban and then it was the NCAA’s investigation of Sharife Cooper, and just when we thought we were going to be alright with Sharife’s ban lifted, we lose Justin Powell.
Yeah. A rough season.
Bruce Pearl’s squad was the youngest team in basketball this season, and there were definitely times when that showed. The team had a hard time playing together at first, and things seemed to go up and down and repeat with Sharife Cooper.
By what was supposed to be the final game of the season against Alabama, an ankle injury had kept Sharife Cooper from playing several games, and he sat on the bench in Tuscaloosa. Auburn basketball fans still watched the tough loss, where victory seemed just within reach several times near the end.
When all was said and done, the final score was 58-70 with Alabama coming out on top. The boys headed to the locker room and the fans headed to Twitter:

Auburn fans, I know we have one game left, but look forward to next year... players back, new players coming in.

We played without Sharife and Powell for most of the season, never saw them on the court together, and youngest team. Next year we will be scary
For now, we look ahead to the final game of the season. The Tigers will host Mississippi State in Auburn Arena on Saturday, March 6 at noon.
