Auburn football fans may need to be wearing their Bear goggles in 2021 if Seth Williams lands in Chicago with the Bears.

With the 2021 NFL Draft just about three weeks away, beat writers around the league are assessing the fits of all of the incoming prospects from the NCAA.

Sure, the Justin Fields-Zach Wilson debate is the most pressing, with the New York Jets on the clock at #2 to decide the first potential franchise quarterback taken off the board after Trevor Lawrence likely goes #1 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. But this year’s class is strong in other respects as well.

The wide receiver position is almost equally as frontloaded as the QB spot. Devonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Ja’Marr Chase are the top pass-catchers to likely fly off the board, but a trio of former Tigers is also eligible.

Anthony Schwartz and Eli Stove will be joining Williams as Auburn men waiting to hear their name called on April 30th or May 1st.

Could Williams hear his name called by Chicago? Bear Goggles On’s Parker Hurley seems to like the idea of the Cottondale native heading north to the Windy City:

"You cannot teach size, and Seth Williams is born with it. He has a knack for the splash play, whether it be flipping the field via the down-field pass, or hauling in the jump ball as a red-zone target. As that impact player in specific areas, he has a role in the NFL.When looking at the wide receiver core, Seth Williams is not quite Allen Robinson but would benefit from a season behind him. Considering Anthony Miller is still on the roster, Williams would currently slot into Chicago as the WR4, and would be in a role where he would thrive.Still, as the WR4, Wims was getting legitimate snaps, and those offensive snaps would be better off going to Seth Williams. Williams can help in the red zone and in flipping the field as a shot player. If Williams fell far enough, Chicago should jump on this player in the 2021 NFL draft."

Hurley mentions Gabriel Davis of the Buffalo Bills as a comparison, but Auburn football fans hope that his ceiling can be higher in the right situation.

The Draft Network sees Williams as someone that can play in just about any NFL offense, while Pro Football Network believes he can excel in Detroit, New England, or New York with the Giants.

Will newly minted starting QB Andy Dalton have Williams as an option?

The end of April can’t come soon enough.
