Auburn football: Fans wish Cam Newton a happy birthday

Cam Newton is and always will be an Auburn football legend. Whether you like him or not, the man did great things in his year on the Plains, most notably leading the Tigers to their second National Championship in 2010. Let’s not forget that he also led an incredible comeback in the Iron Bowl on his way to snatching up the Heisman Trophy, as well.

Newton is a champion and one that exudes joy all the time. In his 140 career games in his ten seasons in the NFL, the quarterback has racked up 430 points on 190 passing touchdowns and 70 rushing touchdowns.

Despite facing health complications due to COVID-19, Newton racked up 2,657 yards and eight touchdowns in his first season with the New England Patriots in 2020. His stats are bound to be more impressive in 2021, although he will be facing competition from Alabama rookie Mac Jones and possibly from returner Jarrett Stidham.

It’s hard to believe that it was a whole ten years ago that Cam Newton was on our campus and the Tigers were hurtling towards victory in Arizona. We’ll always remember Cam Newton as an Auburn man, and we’ll happily wish him the best birthday!
