Auburn football offers 4-star potential WR1 from Texas
Though they may be fashionably late to the offer party, Auburn football finally showed up and extended an offer to 4-star wide receiver Nicholas Anderson for the recruiting class of 2022. The Katy, TX native drew much attention this spring, accumulating 14 of his 27 offers just since February.
In the 2020-21 season, Anderson helped lead Katy High to the Texas 6A D-II State Championship as a junior and hauled in 29 receptions for 450 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 15.5 yards per reception and 37.5 receiving yards per game, according to MaxPreps.
Around the SEC, Anderson has received offers from Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Arkansas in addition to Auburn. Anderson has two official visits listed on his 247Sports profile for this summer–The University of Southern California on June 11 and Notre Dame on June 18.
However, per a tweet from Rivals, the WR already has all five of his official visits planned and will be heading to Cal, Arkansas, and Florida State in addition to USC and Notre Dame.
Though it looks like Auburn football will not be hosting Anderson on the Plains any time soon, it doesn’t count them out of the race for the receiver. With one SEC school on his visit list in Arkansas, it’s possible Anderson decides to further investigate the greatest conference in college football with some kind of virtual visit to campus.
While Auburn does excel at in-person recruiting, the struggles associated with COVID-19 have forced the program to adjust to virtual recruiting as well, and with a state-of-the-art facility on the way, Coach Harsin does have quite a few things to offer to the 4-star prospect.
Nicholas Anderson would be an impactful addition to the class of 2022 and would continue Bryan Harsin’s trend of working to build up the receiver corps of the future.
