The battle for recruits in the class of 2022 is already heating up for Auburn football. With three commitments already on the roster in Powell Gordon, Holden Geriner, and Jarell Stinson, new head coach Bryan Harsin is just getting started.
However, for Harsin, getting started means picking up where former head coach Gus Malzahn left off. In this case, Harsin is taking over the recruitment of 4-star OT Qaeshon Sapp, who was first offered by Malzahn’s staff in November 2020.
Despite the fact that the Tigers were left out of his original top eight, the offensive tackle has decided to make an unofficial visit on June 2.
According to his Twitter page, Sapp has three official visits scheduled to Florida State, Florida, and Cincinnati, all three of which are in his top eight, along with Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, USC, and North Carolina. A few days after making his top-eight announcement, Sapp added LSU to the list.
A native of Leesburg, Georgia, Sapp is the No. 31 recruit out of his state and the No. 38 OT in the recruiting class of 2022. He’s being heavily pursued by UGA but is showing heavy interest in both Florida and Florida State. All five of the 247Sports sports experts under the Prediction Crystal Ball have Sapp committing to FSU, whose spring game Sapp attended last month.
Sapp was a starter for the Lee County High School football team as a junior in 2020 and helped lead the team to a 12-2 record as the Georgia 6A state runner-up. In addition to Auburn, Sapp will also be taking an unofficial visit to the Ole Miss campus.
Although the Tigers did not make it into Sapp’s Top Nine with the addition of LSU, Sapp has announced that he won’t be committing until after he’s made all of his official visits, on July 3. A visit to Auburn’s campus could change everything for Qaeshon Sapp, who may feel like he’s finally at home with the Auburn football program when he steps foot on the Plains.
