Auburn football at the top of the list for 3-star DT Maxie Baudoin IV
Over the weekend, the Auburn football program kicked off the first official visits in what feels like forever. Recruits from all over the country poured in during the week for unofficial visits, culminating in the first weekend of OVs.
Major Auburn defensive target Maxie Baudoin was one of the official visitors to step foot on the Plains this weekend, and he left with the Tigers on top of his list. Auburn was originally listed in the DT’s top 10 with the likes of Florida State, Texas A&M, and USC, but Auburn Undercover reports that the teams most heavily recruiting Baudoin are Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
"“Auburn is definitely at the top of my list,” Baudoin said. “Just the place. I love Auburn — the city, the campus.”"
The Louisiana native is currently ranked as the #67 defensive lineman in the recruiting class of 2022, is expected to make a decision sometime before next season in the fall. So far, Baudoin has no other official visits scheduled but will schedule more before he makes his final decision.
Auburn Rivals reports that defensive line coach Nick Eason met with Baudoin throughout the weekend and was told that he could help the Auburn defensive from several different positions. Baudoin also gave credence to Eason’s NFL reputation:
"“I like coach Eason a lot,” Baudoin said. “I like his personality. He’s a great coach and coached a lot of great NFL guys, too.“He told me they could use me in multiple different positions if I come over here and do different things. I think I could be very successful here if I put in the hard work.”"
Baudoin spent the weekend with player representative J.J. Pegues and believes he has the opportunity to be successful within the Auburn football program.
Time will tell if that ends up being the case.
