Saturday morning Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin dropped this week’s Iron Men of the Week, giving Bo Nix his second recognition this offseason. Joining Bo on the podium is none other than Colby Wooden, a player whose name you should definitely be familiar with.
The Iron Men of the Week are traditionally recognized for their hard work in spring practices, workouts, or whatever the team is doing at the time. The tweets come directly from Bryan Harsin’s account, and the men are applauded for their hard work.
Bo Nix was initially recognized as one of the first Iron Men, along with Owen Pappoe. The fact that Nix was able to earn a repeat honor should excite Auburn football fans, especially since this comes after the transfer of T.J. Finley from the other side of the Mississippi.
Being an Iron Man of the Week means that Nix is being recognized for hard work, which is exactly what fans wanted to see from him in a quarterback competition. With this announcement, it seems that Bo isn’t quite ready to give up his QB1 title.
The defensive player being recognized this week is Colby Wooden, who was a starting defensive tackle as a redshirt freshman last season. He racked up 42 total tackles in 2020, 9.5 of which were tackles for loss, in addition to 4 sacks.
Bryan Harsin and his new staff have been hard at work adding defenders from the NCAA transfer portal, so though they have a couple of returners the roster is now stacked with additions like Marcus Harris and Tony Fair.
Colby Wooden will be an immediate contributor in the fall, and though it’s too soon to tell who will officially be the Tigers’ starting quarterback, it seems Bo Nix isn’t going down without a fight.
