Anyone that has never set foot inside the state of Alabama has never seen the multicolor sea of “A”‘s that divides the state in football fandom. There’s the unsightly crimson mullet “A”, and then there’s a beautiful orange/blue “AU” that signifies Auburn football fans, aka the most passionate fanbase in the SEC.

Given that today marked the first day players can cash in on their NIL and strike sponsorship deals, there were some great tweets sent out into the social media abyss.

None got a rise out of the Yellowhammer State quite like Twitter user and Alabama fan Nick Perkins.

The UA alum took to social media to share his sudden distaste for Milo’s sweet tea following the brand’s signing of Auburn football signal-caller Bo Nix:

In the endless sea of hate that the bird app perpetually possesses on a daily basis, Perkins’ meme was a nice ode to the competitive spirit the two teams share. There was no jersey burning, threats, or name-calling. Just about a dollar’s worth of sweet tea down the sink.

Already, Milo’s is enjoying a nice boost in exposure from being able to ink the Auburn football in-state legacy QB Nix. Given that it’s only July 1st, there should be plenty of more companies enjoying the free marketing from fans simply passionately reacting to each endorsement deal.

Case in point:

Perhaps Milo’s knew what they were doing considering their presence in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Either way, Fly War Eagle will be hunting for Milo’s sweet tea at every chance when filling up the gas tank and you should do the same.

Tigers projected to win seven or eight games. dark. Next
