Auburn football has begun to gain a bit of momentum on the recruiting trail for the 2022 class, in which the Tigers gained three commitments in the past week. While the Tigers may be last in the SEC currently, there is still a long way to go until National Signing Day and the Tigers may have found a new target for their 2022 class.

Joshua Josephs is a 3-star EDGE prospect out of Kennesaw, GA and ranks as the #572 overall player and the #26 EDGE rusher in the 2022 recruiting class. Josephs was one of the top contributors for North Cobb High School and racked up 98 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 4 interceptions. Right now Josephs possesses unique size at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, which should allow him to fit right into that EDGE/OLB position in the Tigers defense.

Keith Niebuhr from Auburn Undercover caught up with Josephs and he had this to say about Auburn football joining the recruitment late and the future of his recruitment:

"“It’s not too late. I’ve talked to them for some time. I was supposed to get offered back in April I want to say. I guess they weren’t feeling me like that. They wanted me to come over for a workout and they liked me after that. Coach (Bert) Watts has been ready to offer me for awhile. He said he had to run it by the head coach (Bryan Harsin). He makes all the decisions. I guess the head coach wanted me to come workout.”"

Niebuhr also asked where Auburn football fell in his recruitment and had Josephs indicated that the Tigers had some work to do:

"Right now, (Interest level in Auburn) is not that high honestly. But I’m just starting to build a relationship with them. I haven’t seen what it’s like up there with them. I don’t know how the environment is. If you offer, you’ve got to build a good relationship because some others are ahead.”"

Josephs was at the Auburn Football camp back on June 7th and got to meet the new staff, but it is clear the new Tigers staff will have to make a significant impact over these next few months to realistically have a shot at Josephs.

Josephs top schools right now seem to be Michigan, Penn State, Kentucky, Tennessee, and UCF. He officially visited Michigan on June 18th and the week before visited Penn State to see what the Nittany Lions had to offer.

Auburn football may be late to the recruitment, but do not count the Tigers out of this one because a commitment has not been set and Josephs plans to visit this season. The Plains is rivaled by no other campus in the country, so the Tigers could be the Darkhorse in this recruitment.
