Auburn football makes Top 3 for 4-star RB out of Atlanta

Auburn football looks to continue their hot streak on the 2022 recruiting trail this month, which has already seen the Tigers land three commitments. The Tigers currently rank #65 overall in the 2022 recruiting cycle and are #14 in the SEC, but one of the biggest Auburn football targets for 2022 will announce his commitment on July 25th.

Damari Alston is a 4-star running back out of Atlanta, GA and ranks as the #302 overall player and #22 RB in the 2022 recruiting cycle. He has been one of the top running back targets for the Tigers and this commitment would be one of the biggest yet for the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Alston announced his Top-3 on Twitter tonight and the Tigers may be the odds on favorites for the running back out of Woodward Academy.

Alston has rushed for over 2,500 yards, 36 touchdowns, and caught 45 passes over his three years at Woodward Academy. Fly War Eagle released a scouting report on Alston a few weeks back and had this to say about the talented running back out of Atlanta:

"“Alston shows excellent patience as a runner, but once he finds the hole, he has the ability to explode through it and possesses the breakaway speed to burn the backend of the defense. He runs low, which allows him to upend defenders and bully smaller defenders when he meets them in the open field. I think Alston fits the mold we have seen from many Auburn RBs these past few years and should be able to find a place in the rotation if he ends up coming to the Plains.”"

Alston visited the Plains back in June and came away impressed with the Tigers and the campus. He visited LSU on June 4th and Northwestern on June 18th, but the Tigers would be the closest option for Alston’s family and friends.

Right now the Tigers hold the only two 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Alston, one of which is from Keith Niebuhr at Auburn Undercover and the other from Bill Embody who covers LSU football for 247Sports.
