Auburn football fans call out recruiting department for Twitter gaffe
Sometimes, ambition meets opportunity…and the results are less than optimal. Auburn football’s recruiting department experienced that the hard way on Twitter yesterday afternoon.
The graphic in question was one captioned “Heisman Hood” with Tigers target Jacob Hood in an Auburn football uniform, wearing the #65 (current senior Alec Jackson wears the number at the moment). It appears that no matter where Hood ends up, he will be wearing the #65.
Currently, Georgia sits as the favorite for the six-foot-eight 3-star OT following a campus visit, but Miami is in on his recruitment along with the Tigers.
Anyway, there’s a glaring issue with said photo. As Twitter user @PabloEscobarner points out, the name on the Heisman trophy in the aforementioned graphic is none other than the 2019 Heisman winner and former SEC West rival LSU’s NFL-bound QB Joe Burrow during his national championship season.
Per his Twitter:
Cool graphic and all but come on @AuburnMade 🥴 like the concept. But it’s the little details. Lol

Needless to say, Alabama fans circled the tweet like hyenas as well, but Fly War Eagle isn’t here to broadcast that sort of negativity today.
While many have been critical of the team’s 2022 recruiting class, there is finally momentum this month after Bryan Harsin and co. added a flurry of recruits the last two weeks.
Let’s just hope the social media department of the Auburn football recruiting department likewise starts building momentum after a notable gaffe on Wednesday.
