Auburn football among 7 SEC teams with more wins than Texas in last decade
You could count Auburn football among a not-that-exclusive club of college football teams that have amassed a better record than the Texas Longhorns in the last decade.
Said list includes seven SEC programs total. Popular college football Twitter account Big Game Boomer posted the list in an attempt to undermine Texas’ desires to join the conference, which was announced today along with Oklahoma’s.
Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi State join Auburn football, along with many members of a number of different conferences ranging from the Sunbelt to the MAC to Conference-USA on BGB’s Longhorn loss-focused list.
Here’s the full list for those in search of a visual aid:
It was an interesting afternoon to say the least after the news of the Big 12’s two most prominent programs wanting a piece of the SEC pie broke. With Auburn football’s media day tomorrow, one must imagine Bryan Harsin hearing questions about the Red River Showdown making its way to the southeast is on the radar.
The potential ramifications are obviously much clearer for the SEC than the Big 12. The latter conference has a misleading name, as it currently stands at 10 with the Longhorns and Sooners. That number would shrink to eight, and would make for quite an underwhelming conference without poaching from someone else.
Which is possible. UCF and Cincinnati could soon be eyeing a step up in weight class. Maybe Miami wants to switch things up.
The rest of the food chain will adjust, with several FCS programs itching to get a shot at the FBS level.
If the SEC is set to add OU and UT, the Longhorns will actually be joining a conference where they are in the bottom half in number of wins the past decade.
Wild.
