Big Ten school #2 that makes more sense joining Auburn football in the SEC than UM/OSU: Indiana

Now we’re really talking. The Hoosiers were rebuilding for many years before finally settling into a groove over the past several years to rise to the top of the Big Ten totem pole.

In 2019 and 2020, Tom Allen coached IU to a 14-7 record after going 10-14 his first first two seasons in Bloomington. Last season, they were robbed of being in the Big Ten Championship game because of a rule change that seemed to intentionally preserve Ohio State’s eligibility for the game.

Long story short, there were COVID-19 amendments to those not set in stone rules that stated that a team needed to have competed six regular season games to qualify for the title game. Then, OSU fell short of the threshold and the goal posts were moved back to five games. That cost the Hoosiers a chance in the championship game against Auburn football’s Citrus Bowl opponent Northwestern, and Indiana went on to lose in the Outback Bowl to Ole Miss.

Well, if IU could recover and continue to be a top-ranked football program, their jump to the SEC–where they’d have a short drive to potential local rivals in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt–would make infinitely more sense than Ohio State and Michigan’s.
