Auburn football fans that follow their favorite former Tigers in the NFL had a rough day yesterday as teams cut their rosters down to 53 men.

Recent sixth-round draft selection Seth Williams is now looking for the uniform he’ll wear as he plays in his first regular-season game at the professional level. Denver Broncos fans weren’t happy about the decision, and they may regret it if they can’t sign the WR to the practice squad.

2016 undrafted free agent Peyton Barber was also released yesterday, with the Washington Football Team dropping the hammer on the former Tiger RB. Barber may not be missed by WFT fans considering his down year in D.C. according to FS’ WFT site, Riggo’s Rag.

Undoubtedly, though, the biggest NFL release of a Tiger was Cam Newton’s from the New England Patriots.

It certainly hurts even more that it comes with the accompanying fact of Alabama’s National Championship QB Mac Jones taking over the starting role under center.

Instead of harping on the sorrow, though, let’s figure out where the Auburn football legend could end up next:

The Houston Texans replace Deshaun Watson with Superman

It’s not clear what Deshaun Watson’s ongoing active civil case ending will be, but it seems as though it will be one that bleeds into the 2021 season. Without Watson, rookie Davis Mills and Tyrod Taylor–who famously had a team doctor puncture his long last season–are the two QBs currently tabbed to lead the Houston Texans this upcoming year.

Neither have high enough of a ceiling to not at least consider Newton. While the weaponry at the skill positions is not what it was even last season, Houston is intriguing enough as a team to build back his value on.
