Week one went about as good as it could possibly go for Auburn football. The team ranked the highest in Tom Fornelli’s rankings, Bo Nix was the fifth highest-graded quarterback in the nation, and Tank Bigsby practically earned the title of CFB’s RB1.

Prior to the season, first-year head coach Bryan Harsin announced two season-long captains in Owen Pappoe and Chandler Wooten, who were selected by their teammates. They are to be accompanied by two different honorary captains each week, kicked off by Bo Nix and Nick Brahms.

Following the 60-10 victory versus Akron, Harsin named six players of the week, two from the D-line, and one from the O-Line, offense, defense, and special teams. Two of those MVP’s were named as this week’s honorary captains versus Alabama State:

Two linemen were selected to represent the Tigers this week. From the offensive line, Brodarious Hamm, and from the defensive line, T.D. Moultry. Both were praised for their in-game performances last week. Auburn Associate Athletic Director and Football Administration and Chief of Staff Brad Larrondo approved of the decision, calling the pair of athletes leaders:

Auburn fans were looking to see an improved offensive line from the Tigers on Saturday, and the group did its job well. Noticeably, Harsin kept the O-line starters in for most of the first half but the group still saw success when substitutions were made right before halftime.

On the other side of the ball, T.D. Moultry finally saw the kind of success that was missing from this career for the past few seasons. The EDGE made the first start of his career on Saturday and gave the best performance of five seasons. He finished with seven tackles and one sack.

While the first two games on Auburn football’s schedule might be a bit of a cakewalk if the Tigers can keep up this cohesiveness and consistency they should be a formidable opponent when conference play begins.
