We all have our beloved traditions in college football, and we respect everyone else’s traditions even if Auburn football has the best ones. Tiger fans learned about a new college football tradition this week as PSU Twitter introduced SEC fans to Nittanyville.
According to the Nittanyville Twitter account, Penn State students camp out all week in Nittanyville, located right outside Beaver Stadium’s Gate A, to ensure a front-row seat at the Saturday football game. A literal tent city is pitched outside of the stadium every week starting on Wednesday, but the campsites for the Auburn game–the annual whiteout–began on Sunday of this week, per the Daily Collegian.
While we can all be appreciative of CFB traditions, it’s Penn State hate week for the Auburn family, and the Nittany Lions seem intent on intimidating Tiger fans with the prospect of a wild crowd during the whiteout. As if the Tigers haven’t played at Bryant-Denny, Sanford Stadium, Kyle Field, or the Swamp before.
Naturally, Auburn football fans will not be outdone on Twitter, and the reactions to Nittanyville were a mix of confusion and Fyre Fest vibes:
Kudos to the Penn State students, because college football wouldn’t be near as much fun if the fanbases weren’t passionate. However, I’m sure I speak for most Auburn students when I say I’m glad there is no camping at JHS.
