Auburn football fans react to Penn State’s James Franklin-USC rumors
The University of Southern California is looking for a new football coach, and rumor has it there is mutual interest between Penn State head coach James Franklin and USC. This only adds fuel to the Penn State-Auburn football fire that has been raging between the fan bases ever since Sunday.
Publicly, Coach Franklin has only stated that he does not like distraction and he intends to focus wholly on the upcoming game versus Auburn, but this non-answer cannot be comforting for players or fans. According to SI.com, Franklin has spoken about how behind the Penn State football program is, and several board members voted no on what ultimately became an approved $48.3 million dollars in improvements.
So, could James Franklin be looking for a fresh start with a new program outside of the Big 10? The speculation itself is enough to derail the Nittany Lions’ focus on Auburn football, and Tiger fans stoked the fire on Twitter:
At least Auburn football took care of their coaching issues before the 2021 season began. The Tigers are focused on preparation for the ranked matchup this weekend, and Bryan Harsin told reporters that they’ll be preparing for crowd noise with their speaker systems to practice not being able to hear each other.
The Penn State-Auburn football game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. central time this Saturday from State College.
