Auburn football suffered a tough loss this weekend to the #2 team in the nation, but as a consolation prize Georgia moved up to the #1 spot after Alabama took a loss to an unranked Texas A&M team in College Station.
That’s right, folks. For the first time since 2007, the Crimson Tide lost to an unranked opponent. Nick Saban lost his first game to a former assistant after 24 straight wins, and the Tide’s 19-game win streak was snapped into pieces.
If Auburn football can’t win, the next best thing is watching Alabama lose to an unranked team, am I right? And if you’re going to have to lose, it’s better to say you lost to the #1 team in the country, right? That was the silver lining for Auburn fans this weekend after losing by 24 in Jordan-Hare Stadium:
While Auburn football is gearing up to face four more ranked teams this season, Alabama’s only ranked opponent left is #17 Arkansas the week before the Iron Bowl, and judging from Arkansas’ recent games it’s probable that a loss to the Tide is on the board for them.
It will be extremely important for Auburn football to beat both Arkansas and Ole Miss this season, but for the rest of this week, Tiger fans will split their time between reveling in the Alabama loss and hating on Arkansas in preparation for this weekend’s road game.
