Auburn football added a thirteenth member to the recruiting class of 2022 this week with the commitment of offensive lineman Eston Harris Jr. The 3-star offensive tackle bumped the Tigers up to 13th place in the SEC, right above Vanderbilt.

Though the Tigers have seen a recent slump in recruiting, first-year head coach Bryan Harsin appears ready to kick things back into gear with two commits in the last two weeks, both from Auburn High School offensive linemen. Drew Bobo and Harris are the first two offensive linemen to be signed to the class of 2022, which is in desperate need of O-Line talent.

Getting Harris to commit to Auburn football is a huge win for Harsin, not only in adding players to the O-Line but also in establishing a culture in which hometown talent sticks around to play for the Tigers.

Historically, the Tigers have had a tough time recruiting locals, but it seems that Harsin and the new staff are working on strengthening relationships and building bridges for the future signing classes. While they have secured the AHS trio of Eston Harris Jr., Drew Bobo, and Powell Gordon, the staff is also going after class of 2023 offensive lineman, Bradyn Joiner.

According to AL.com, Harris has graded at 92 percent for the Tigers this fall, and Auburn High football head coach Keith Etheredge only expects the OT to get better:

"“He’s been a wall for us,” Etheredge said. “He does outstanding job keeping people in front of him, making sure nothing gets by him. He puts that wall up. The good news is he’s still got some room to grow and mature. I think he will get even better.”"

Things will continue to heat up for Auburn football recruiting as Harsin turns his focus to several top recruits including 4-star WR Darrius Clemons and 4-star DL Khurtiss Perry.
