Auburn basketball: Alabama unrepresented on NBA 75th Anniversary team

Is Auburn basketball a blue blood now? After the 2019 Final Four run and having a recruit refer to the university as a basketball school, Fly War Eagle thinks the answer is yes.

After a painful 2020-21 post-season that didn’t include Bruce Pearl’s Tigers, the coaching staff tore up the recruiting trail and crafted a formidable 2021 roster. Another Final Four run could be on the horizon for Auburn basketball.

Bruce Pearl’s legacy is only adding to the history of Auburn basketball, which includes the legendary Charles Barkley. Sir Charles played basketball on the Plains for three seasons before being selected as the fifth pick in the first round of the 1984 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.

As the NBA celebrates its 75th season, they created a 75th Anniversary Team meant to honor the 75 best players in the history of basketball. As a result of a tie in the voting, the team is comprised of 76 basketball players.

55 different colleges are represented in those 76 players, including Auburn University, thanks to Charles Barkley. The second thing Auburn basketball fans noticed in the list of schools was that a certain red and white rival was not included on the list:
